Who murdered Miriam?

Andrew Pitt

Andrew Pitt always knew he was adopted but it was only after he began working for Miriam Gardiner that he realised she was his biological mother.

He had access to her personal files and documents and found a birth certificate for John Leigh. John Leigh was the name Andrew had been given at birth. A little more digging and he was convinced Miriam had given him up. His adoptive parents were two respectable teachers. They were great parents but they did not create the wealth Miriam did when she developed Gardiner Beauty, wealth that would be passed on to her three Gardiner children.

Andrew made a plan for revenge. A long term plan that started with planting a bitter tasting apricot tree in the orchard. Once it grew apricots he ground the kernels to make prussic acid and added it to the hot chocolate that Shu ingested. He had not meant to harm the dog.

When the plan failed Andrew intended to wait until Miriam fell asleep after taking her sleeping pills and to throw her down the stairs to the kitchen but Miriam had stopped taking her sleeping pills. When he walked into her bedroom he found her awake. He didn’t realise she was making a recording and the recordings would be recovered.

He struck her on the side of the head, knocking her out and then carried out his plan to throw her forcefully down the stairs. He had not expected to be seen going back to his attic room and nor had he expected you to reveal him as a killer.

Congratulations!
